Ericeira, Portugal
Europe’s first World Surfing Reserve
Ericeira is a whitewashed fishing town on low cliffs north of Lisbon that became Europe’s surf capital — the first World Surfing Reserve on the continent, with seven protected breaks within five kilometres. The old town keeps its fish-market heart, blue-trimmed houses and a food scene that runs from family grilled-fish houses to chef-driven small plates.

Living in Ericeira
Surf-season short lets drive a strong small-investor market, but the town’s permanent charm — walkability, fish market, cliff walks — is what keeps international residents coming; prices have risen with the surf economy but remain below Cascais.
