Estoril became Europe’s largest casino resort in the 1930s and gathered a legendary exile community after the war — the town even appears in the origin stories of Casino Royale. Its wide seafront promenade runs flat and palm-lined from São João to the Tamariz beach and the fort at São Pedro.
