Cascais, Portugal

The royal coast turned most international suburb

Cascais grew from a fishing port into the Portuguese royal family’s summer retreat, and after 1940 into a refuge for exiled European aristocracy. Today it is the country’s most international suburb: marina, museums, the Boca do Inferno cliffs and a bicycle path along the coast to the Guincho break.
